Innovative eSleep_dHealth Curriculum Design Completed
We are excited to announce the completion of Activity 2.2: Design of the eSleep_dHealth curriculum, a key milestone within Work Package 2: Design of eSleep_dHealth Curriculum and Open Educational Resources. This accomplishment is the result of months of collaborative effort among our dedicated partners, demonstrating our commitment to advancing education in sleep medicine and digital health research.
Overview of the eSleep_dHealth Curriculum
The eSleep_dHealth curriculum addresses the significant global burden of sleep disorders and their link to chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and mental health disorders. By focusing on early detection and preventive interventions, the curriculum aims to reduce healthcare costs and improve overall health outcomes. It emphasizes interdisciplinary expertise and innovation, integrating sleep medicine into the education of healthcare professionals, medical students, and those studying digital health and related technologies. The curriculum fosters the development of creative and entrepreneurial mindsets by leveraging digital technologies to address unmet medical needs.
Curriculum Structure
The curriculum employs open pedagogy, emphasizing learner agency, collaboration, and open educational resources (OER). This approach fosters inclusion and creates a sense of community among learners. The curriculum is organized into three modules:
- Sleep Medicine – 6 ECTS (150 hours of student workload)
- Digital Health – 2 ECTS (54 hours of student workload)
- Entrepreneurship – 2 ECTS (54 hours of student workload)
This curriculum provides students from various backgrounds with the knowledge and skills to identify and address unmet medical needs, create innovative solutions in digital health, and transform these ideas into viable businesses. It has also served as the foundation for developing our OERs as accessible educational materials that promote collaborative and inclusive learning.
The completed curriculum is available in the Results section under WP2, marking a significant step forward in promoting innovative education and interdisciplinary expertise for a healthier future.
