Second short staff training on the design and delivery of engaging video and other online content
The second short staff training for the HEAL4ALL project took place from March 19th to March 21st, 2025, at the University of Eastern Finland, marking a significant milestone in the development of the project. This event was crucial in advancing the project’s objectives, as it provided the team with the opportunity to collaborate closely, refine key content, and strategize for the successful delivery of the online course.
The training event brought together a diverse group of experts from various fields, each contributing valuable insights and skills to the project. These team members, with their wide-ranging expertise, worked together to create compelling and high-quality content for the course, which is at the heart of the HEAL4ALL initiative. This collaborative approach was not only about content creation, but also about ensuring that each team member’s unique skills and perspectives were integrated into the overall course development process, resulting in a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for future participants. Beyond content creation, the team also spent time reviewing the overall project structure, assessing progress, and ensuring that all tasks were on track for future success.
Throughout the event, the team’s communication and collaboration were key. With each member contributing their knowledge and expertise, the group was able to work efficiently and creatively, pushing the boundaries of what the HEAL4ALL project can achieve. The atmosphere was one of mutual support, with team members offering constructive feedback and encouragement, which ultimately helped elevate the overall quality of the work produced.
The first day of Short Staff Training kicked off with a strong focus on media training, setting the tone for an engaging and productive session. The primary objective of this day was to equip staff with the skills to present confidently and effectively on camera, an essential component for creating engaging and professional online course content. Through a series of exercises, participants learned techniques to speak clearly, maintain composure, and project authority while appearing natural on camera. This training not only helped to boost individual confidence but also prepared staff for the upcoming video recording sessions that would form the backbone of the online course.
After the media training, the project team dove straight into the practical aspect of content creation, recording several key videos for the online course. These videos were crucial for laying the foundation of the course, allowing the team to capture essential information and instructional material that would form the core learning content. The recording process also provided an opportunity for staff to apply their newly acquired media training skills, ensuring that the videos were not only informative but also engaging and polished.
Following the video recordings, the participants broke into groups to work collaboratively on refining the content of the online course. This group work was an essential part of the day’s agenda, as it allowed the team to focus on specific elements of the course structure, including the peer evaluation process and the consolidation of learning outcomes.
An integral part of this process was the emphasis on perfecting the curriculum. With input from all team members, the curriculum was carefully reviewed and adjusted to ensure that it offered a balanced approach to learning. The goal was to create a course that not only provided the necessary knowledge but also encouraged active learning, interaction, and reflection.
On the second day of the project, the team continued to build momentum, focusing primarily on video recordings and collaborative content creation. The team worked closely together to draft the script for the promotional video, which will serve as a vital tool for introducing the course to potential participants. The scriptwriting process involved detailed discussions to ensure that the messaging was clear, engaging, and effectively communicated the course’s value proposition.
Simultaneously, the team made significant strides in developing content for the course itself. With the foundational structure already in place, members began to refine individual modules, ensuring that the material was both informative and easy to follow for learners.
In addition to content creation, the team turned their attention to the technical side of the project. They explored how to best integrate the course content into the Moodle platform, ensuring a seamless user experience for students once the course is launched. This involved discussions about the platform’s features, how to organize materials effectively, and how to maximize the learner’s engagement and interaction with the content.
To ensure that all aspects of the project moved forward efficiently, the team also began strategizing and dividing tasks for future work. Clear roles were assigned based on each team member’s expertise, ensuring that the project would continue to progress smoothly and that no aspect of the course development would be overlooked. This planning session set the stage for the next phases of the project, establishing deadlines and expectations for the completion of key milestones.
On the final day, after a relaxing sauna session, the team completed promotional video recordings and held a Steering Committee meeting. This meeting provided an update on the project’s progress, financial planning, communication strategies, and work package developments.
By the end of the three-day training, the team had made significant progress in preparing for the next stages of the HEAL4ALL project. With refined video content, an enhanced course curriculum, and engaging promotional materials in place, the team is now poised to move forward with confidence, ensuring the successful completion of the project. The second short staff training was a critical step in solidifying the foundation for the project’s success, and it provided the team with the tools, knowledge, and cohesion needed to bring the HEAL4ALL initiative to life.
